Which is right for you?
Accelerated Freefall (AFF)
Discover the skydiving equivalent of learning to ride a bike with training wheels. In this method, you’ll be accompanied by certified instructors during freefall. These instructors act as “smart training wheels” ensuring your safety and guiding you towards mastering essential skills. Our AFF training includes a comprehensive ground course, typically lasting several hours. To bolster your knowledge, we ask students to review USPA Online Ground School. This offers valuable insights into equipment, canopy flight, landing procedures, emergency protocols, as well as exit and freefall techniques.
During your first AFF jump, you’ll exit the aircraft alongside two USPA AFF Instructors, enjoying 45 seconds of freefall instruction, typically at altitudes between 10,000 to 13,000 feet. Instructors will maintain a grip on your harness, providing vital in-air guidance and ensuring stability. You’ll open your own parachute at 4,500 feet, steering it safely to the landing area. Take your first step towards a solo skydive with AFF.
Instructor-Assisted Deployment (IAD)
For a swift and exciting introduction to skydiving, consider IAD training. In this method, the instructor initiates your parachute deployment when you make the daring leap from the plane. The instructor does not jump with you, allowing for a unique experience. USPA Online Ground School complements this method, offering valuable information for first-time jumpers. Although the freefall portion is specific to AFF, it provides comprehensive knowledge about skydiving equipment, canopy flight, landing procedures, and emergency protocols.
During your IAD jump, assisted by the USPA IAD Instructor, you’ll exit the aircraft solo, experiencing an immediate parachute deployment. The exit and opening occur at 3,500 feet, after which you’ll take control and steer your parachute to the landing area. Embrace the thrill of an instructor-assisted deployment with IAD.
Tandem Freefall
If you’re eager to embark on your skydiving journey with minimal training time, our Tandem Freefall method is the perfect choice. In this method, both you and the instructor share the same parachute system, making it a swift and exciting introduction to the world of solo skydiving. Generally, the training for Tandem Freefall lasts approximately 20 minutes, ensuring you’re ready for a thrilling adventure.
During the jump, you’ll freefall together with your instructor for up to 45 seconds, typically at altitudes up to 10,000 feet. The descent is made under a single large parachute equipped with dual controls, offering you a taste of solo skydiving while still under the guidance of an experienced pilot. Embrace the exhilaration of tandem freefall with Jump Omaha.
