What is Tandem Skydiving?
Tandem skydiving at Jump Omaha pairs a student with an experienced instructor, actively involving the student in the jump.
Can I bring a camera on my skydive?
No, personal cameras are not allowed. Jump Omaha provides video options. The United States Parachute Association requires 200 jumps for anyone to carry a camera in freefall or under canopy.
Is skydiving dangerous?
Of course! Tandem skydiving, like any adventure sport, carries inherent risks that all participants must understand and accept. However, our commitment to safety is paramount. While tandem skydiving involves an inescapable element of risk, our focus on professionalism and safety aims to provide our customers with an exhilarating yet secure experience.
Is tandem skydiving safe?
Now there’s a much better question! Jump Omaha has the latest in student and tandem gear. All of the equipment used at Jump Omaha is serviced and maintained to the highest standard. Main parachutes are packed by professionals while all reserve parachutes are inspected and packed by FAA-certified senior parachute riggers every 180 days even if they have not been used. While skydiving is an inherently risky sport, just like driving a car is an inherently dangerous activity, we take every precaution to make your skydiving experience as safe as possible.
Do you jump in all weather at Jump Omaha?
Jump Omaha does not jump in rain, extreme wind, very cold temperatures or through solid layers of clouds. Staff at Jump Omaha will look at a number of weather factors to determine whether or not jumping is appropriate on any given day. If you have a scheduled jump and you are unsure about the weather, please do not hesitate to call. In the event a scheduled jump must be rescheduled due to inclement weather you will receive an email letting you know with a rescheduling link to reschedule your jump.
Do you jump in cold weather?
Yes, Jump Omaha operates in cold weather. Just like any cold weather outdoor activity, skydivers simply add layers for comfort. Dress for the weather outdoors and Jump Omaha will provide additional cold weather gear as necessary including but not limited to jumpsuits, gloves, and hats.
What should I wear for my skydive?
- Wear comfortable clothing that allows ease of movement such as athletic wear.
- Sneakers are the best option when it comes to footwear.
- Leave any jewelry at home and be prepared to remove loose items such as hats, sunglasses, and other accessories.
- Layers are recommended for cooler weather.
How experienced are Jump Omaha instructors?
Jump Omaha instructors, rated by USPA, have an average of almost 5,000 jumps each, making them highly experienced.

Who Can Make a Tandem Skydive
Is there an age requirement for skydiving at Jump Omaha?
Jump Omaha requires all skydiving students to be at least 18 years old. There is no maximum age for skydiving as long as you are in good physical health!
Is there a weight limit for tandem skydiving?
Yes, at Jump Omaha, we do have a weight limit of 235 lbs for tandem skydiving. This limit is in place to ensure the safety of both the participant and the instructor, as it is based on the equipment’s specifications and safety guidelines. Occasionally, arrangements can be made if the student is over 235 lbs. Please call for details.
Can you skydive with a disability?
Skydiving with a disability is possible in many cases, but it depends on the nature and extent of the disability. Individuals with disabilities should contact Jump Omaha prior to scheduling a jump to discuss their specific situation and assess whether accommodations can be made. It’s crucial to communicate openly and provide detailed information about the disability. In some cases, a doctor’s approval or consultation may be necessary.

When do I arrive and jump at Jump Omaha?
Arrive at your scheduled time for check-in. Jumps are completed on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have not completed the waiver online, please arrive 30 minutes prior to your reservation time to complete the waiver process. Otherwise, plan to arrive no more than 15 minutes earlier than your scheduled class time.
Can I smoke or drink alcohol while at the dropzone at Jump Omaha?
Consuming alcohol, smoking and vaping is not permitted on airport property. Skydiving is an activity that MUST be done sober. If you consume alcohol prior to making your skydive, you will not be allowed to make a jump. If you are seen smoking, vaping, or consuming alcohol on airport property you will be asked to leave.
How long does the skydiving process take at Jump Omaha?
Skydiving is not a carnival ride and the entire process can take up to several hours depending upon a number of factors. All students should expect to be on site for a minimum of 2 hours and a maximum of 6 hours from scheduled class time until landing from your skydive. Most often, students are in and out in approximately 2 hours. Upon arrival, students will check in and complete paperwork. Next, students will be trained by an instructor. After training, students will be geared up and taken up in the airplane in their order of arrival. Turnaround time for each group in the airplane is approximately 30 minutes.
Can I bring friends to watch at Jump Omaha?
Yes, spectators of all ages are welcome at Jump Omaha. However, children must always be accompanied by an adult while on airport property. Children are not permitted to wait on the ground unattended while a parent or caregiver makes a skydive. Children are also not permitted around the airplane or inside the building.
Can I bring my dog, cat, or other pets?
We love our furry friends but pets and airplanes are not the best mix. Please leave pets at home when you come out for your skydiving experience. An active airport is not an environment that is well suited for animals. Service animals are of course permitted.
What is your refund and rescheduling policy?
All purchases at Jump Omaha are nonrefundable. If you are not able to make a skydive on the day you are scheduled due to inclement weather, you will have up to 1 year to reschedule your appointment. If you have a scheduled appointment that you would like to reschedule, you can do so with at least 48 hours notice. Failure to appear for your scheduled class time without 48 hours notice will result in forfeiture of your reservation.
Parachute Landing and Beyond
Where will the parachute land?
All skydivers at Jump Omaha plan to land back at the dropzone they took off from, including tandem skydiving student/instructor pairs.
Are landings hard at Jump Omaha?
While there is always a risk of harder than expected landings, a tandem skydiving landing is typically softer than jumping off of a chair.
